Ekta Bishnoi wins three gold medals at World Masters Classic Powerlifting
Ekta Bishnoi, an officer with the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), has won three gold medals at the World Masters Classic Powerlifting Championship held in Reno, United States. Bishnoi lifted a total weight of 362.5 kg, defeating competitors from Japan and Canada.
This achievement marks the first time an Indian female powerlifter has secured a gold medal in the Masters-2 category of this championship. Bishnoi managed the feat while balancing her professional responsibilities as a government official.
The victory followed logistical challenges after the Indian team coach, Sunil Kumar, was denied a U.S. visa. Bishnoi utilized video calls to receive coaching from Kumar and received on-ground assistance from team official Binu Ibrahim to execute her strategy.
