Ektaa Kapoor confirms sequel to The Dirty Picture

Producer Ektaa Kapoor has confirmed that she is developing a sequel to the 2011 Hindi film ‘The Dirty Picture’. Speaking on a podcast, Kapoor stated that she is planning the project approximately 15 years after the original release.

The original film, which starred Vidya Balan, was inspired by the life of South Indian actress Silk Smitha. Kapoor noted that while the first film focused on a woman condemned for her sexuality, the sequel will also revolve around a woman similar to Silk Smitha, but with a focus on sexuality as a matter of personal choice.

Specific details regarding the cast, plot, and release date have not yet been disclosed, though Kapoor indicated that a major announcement is expected soon.
