El Al delays repatriation flights from Dubai after UAE landing permission withdrawal FAST-MOVING

Repatriation flights for Israelis stranded in Dubai have been disrupted following a violent incident on a Flydubai flight. The incident involved an Omani co-pilot allegedly attacking a captain with a knife and attempting to crash the Boeing 737 MAX, which resulted in an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Consequently, Flydubai has suspended all flights to and from Israel pending an investigation.

Israeli airline El Al announced the cancellation of its scheduled repatriation flights from Dubai after the United Arab Emirates reportedly withdrew landing permissions. El Al plans to resume these flights starting next Sunday, with additional services scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. While Israir reported receiving necessary landing authorizations from Dubai airport, other airlines like Arkia have faced uncertainty regarding flight approvals from UAE authorities.

Reports indicate that more than 10,000 Israelis are currently stranded in Dubai and other locations. The situation has also raised questions regarding aviation security and the vetting of foreign pilots, as reports suggest that several pilots from Oman have entered Israel in recent years despite the lack of formal diplomatic ties between the two nations.
