EL AL maintains flight operations during Israel wartime

EL AL, Israel’s flag carrier, maintained flight operations to and from Ben-Gurion Airport following the October 7 attacks, while most other airlines suspended service to the region.

Ilanit Ninay-Lion, who oversees customer relations for the airline, detailed how the company assisted Yoni Asher in November 2023. Asher, whose wife and two daughters were kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz, required urgent travel to Germany for a diplomatic mission to secure their release. Despite rocket fire at the airport and a limited flight schedule, EL AL secured the necessary seats for his departure.

Asher’s family was later released in the first group of hostages on November 23. In a message to the airline, Asher described their support as a ‘beacon of morality and humanity’ during the crisis.
