El Al Q2 Net Profit More Than Doubles Amid Iran War Fallout
Israeli flag carrier El Al reported a second‑quarter net profit of $132 million, up from $66 million a year earlier, while revenue rose 27 % to $986 million. The airline said it lost $55 million because of the war with Iran, but it holds a $1.4 billion order backlog and plans to increase seat capacity by up to 10 % in the third quarter.
The results come as El Al dominates travel to and from Tel Aviv after Israel’s airspace was closed to civilian traffic at the start of the conflict and reopened following the April 8 ceasefire. With U.S. carriers suspended until September, El Al is again leading the lucrative New York route, pushing transatlantic fares higher.
