El Arenal municipality accused of concealing sanctioned provider

The Comptroller General of the Republic has revealed that the District Municipality of El Arenal in Paita failed to provide timely information regarding a state contractor who was legally barred from doing business with the government.

According to an official report, this omission prevented the State Contracting Tribunal (TCE) from imposing sanctions, leading to the dismissal of disciplinary proceedings. The report notes that the municipality did not respond to information requests from the Public Contracting Tribunal, which hindered the state's ability to exercise its sanctioning powers. Consequently, four resolutions were issued declaring ‘no ha lugar’ (not applicable) regarding sanctions against provider Selso Saavedra Benites, as the lack of documentation prevented authorities from proving the alleged infractions.
