El Bolsón court suspends streaming services over child support debt

A court in El Bolsón, Río Negro, has ordered the suspension of digital streaming services for a father who owes nearly $4 million in child support. The ruling affects platforms including Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube, and Max.

Judge Paola Bernardini cited Article 553 of the Civil and Commercial Code, stating that the measures are intended to dissuade non-compliance and ensure the fulfillment of food obligations rather than to serve as a punishment. In addition to the digital restrictions, the court has suspended the individual's driver's license and prohibited its renewal until the debt is settled.

The court has requested that streaming platforms report any active subscriptions under the debtor's name and immediately suspend them. Furthermore, authorities are investigating potential assets in the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén for possible seizure, following an existing lien placed on the individual's vehicle.
