El Camino College investigates Turning Point USA chapter

El Camino College officials have barred the campus chapter of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) from participating in the final two days of the Club Rush event due to an ongoing investigation into club misconduct.

The investigation follows a meeting held by the group on September 10 for a Charlie Kirk memorial. According to Director of Student Development Ricardo Gonzalez, the group held the meeting before being officially enacted as a club. While students are permitted to have unofficial hangouts, college policy dictates that unregistered or inactive clubs cannot reserve classrooms or access club privileges, such as recruitment and funding.

TPUSA club advisor Gregory Fry described the college handbook rules as appearing “a little extreme,” noting that the meeting was intended as a one-off event.
