El Chapulín Colorado origin story film announced

Producer Roberto Gómez Fernández has announced that a live-action feature film based on the iconic character El Chapulín Colorado is in development. The announcement was made during the CANACINE Luminus Awards.

The film is intended to explore the origins of the character, a departure from the original television sketches and series created by his father, Roberto Gómez Bolaños, also known as Chespirito. Gómez Fernández confirmed that the project will not be animated and that while the cast has not yet been finalized, the lead role will go to someone “deserving of that position.”

The project is currently in its primary stages. This announcement follows other recent projects related to the Chespirito legacy, including the miniseries ‘Sin querer queriendo’ and the animated series ‘Los colorados’.
