El Chapulín Colorado to receive live-action origin film

Roberto Gómez Fernández, son of the late comedian Roberto Gómez Bolaños, has confirmed that a live-action film centered on the origins of the iconic character 'El Chapulín Colorado' is currently in development. Speaking at the Luminus CANACINE Awards in Mexico City, the producer noted that the project is nearing the production stage.

Unlike previous iterations that utilized animation, this new film will feature live actors. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the story will focus on how the hero first came to be. Gómez Fernández stated that a decision regarding the lead actor has not yet been made, emphasizing that the role requires someone truly worthy of the legacy. He also noted that the project has been in development for years to ensure the creator's work is handled with the necessary care.

In addition to the film, the producer mentioned other upcoming projects, including an animated series about 'El Chavo del 8' and a series focused on the character 'Don Ramón'.
