El Diluvio-El Palmar agricultural project reactivated in Zulia
The El Diluvio-El Palmar Agricultural Development Project in the Jesús Enrique Lossada municipality of Zulia has been reactivated as a communal direct social ownership enterprise. The initiative involves three local communes aiming to boost food production in the Maracaibo plain.
The project covers 37,000 hectares, with over 3,500 hectares currently in active production. It integrates 900 family production units, benefiting approximately 2,209 families in the region.
To support the reactivation, Minister of Communes Ángel Prado announced $900,000 in agricultural financing intended for crop diversification and the expansion of agro-industrial processes. The project was also equipped with heavy machinery, including three tractors, an excavator, and a backhoe, to assist with land conditioning and irrigation channels. The goal is to supply raw materials through local networks to both rural and urban communes within the state.
