El Ejido allocates €600,000+ for comprehensive upgrade of Camino del Mancha

The municipality of El Ejido in Almería is investing over €600,000 to overhaul the rural Camino del Mancha, a key five‑kilometre route used daily by hundreds of farmers. The contract, awarded for €575,881 plus expropriation costs, covers full resurfacing, widening the carriageway to 7.4 m (with an additional metre in places), and re‑grading two particularly dangerous curves to create smoother transitions. New drainage wells are being installed near Vicasol and the access point at kilometre 2+530 is being reordered to improve visibility and vehicle manoeuvrability.

Councilor for Agriculture and Environment Manuel Martínez visited the site and said the works will “guarantee the durability of the surface, improve road safety and make life easier for our agricultural professionals.” The project began with clearing the road margins, removing traffic signs and milling the existing pavement, aiming to strengthen the infrastructure that underpins the local agro‑industrial sector.
