El Ejido police intensify crackdown on trafficking and illegal transport

Law enforcement agencies in El Ejido are intensifying operations to combat various forms of illegal activity. The National Police have focused on drug trafficking, fraudulent residency registrations, and the protection of labor rights within the region's significant agricultural sector. Officials highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination between the National Police, Civil Guard, and Local Police to address these complex social and economic security issues.

Simultaneously, the El Ejido Local Police have reported the denunciation of seven drivers for operating as illegal taxis. These unauthorized transport services were detected near high-traffic areas, including the local bus station and the Poniente University Hospital. Authorities warned that operating without a license is a very serious offense, carrying fines of up to 5,000 euros and vehicle impoundment.
