El Ejido prepares for XI Romería del Rocío pilgrimage

The municipality of El Ejido is preparing for the XI Romería-Convivencia del Rocío, scheduled for August 22. The event serves as a significant religious, cultural, and tourist attraction for the region.

The festivities will begin with a mass at the Church of Santiago Apóstol in Guardias Viejas at 18:00. Following the service, hundreds of pilgrims will travel on foot, horseback, or by carriage to the Sagrada Familia Church in Almerimar. The itinerary includes a floral offering and the recitation of the Salve Rociera at 21:30, followed by a midnight rosary at the ‘Evasión’ area.

Registration for those wishing to participate with horses or carriages is open on August 17 and 18 at the parish halls of the Sagrada Familia Church in Almerimar. Local Police and Civil Protection will be deployed to ensure the safety of all participants.
