El Ejido prosecutor seeks 18 years for Grindr-related robbery gang

Spanish prosecutors are seeking nearly 18 years in prison for a man accused of leading a criminal group in El Ejido, Almería. The group allegedly used fake profiles on the dating app Grindr to lure gay men to a remote area in Las Norias de Daza to rob and assault them.

The indictment details four specific incidents occurring between late December 2025 and January 2026. During these attacks, victims were reportedly beaten, threatened with death, and subjected to homophobic insults while their mobile phones, cash, and vehicle keys were stolen.

The prosecution has charged the individual with membership in a criminal group, three counts of robbery with violence, one attempted robbery with violence, and four counts of assault. The charges include aggravating circumstances due to the abuse of vulnerability.
