El Fuerte kicks off 2026 State Baseball Championship

Pre‑tournament activities began in El Fuerte, Sinaloa, with a children’s friendly game between the El Fuerte and Choix selections, which El Fuerte won 7‑2. The event also featured the traditional Home Run Derby, won by Guasave player Fernando Inzunza of the Ejidatarios de Juan José Ríos; Jahir Ruiz (Choix) placed second and Ignacio Rendón (UAdeO) third.

Mayor Gildardo Leyva Ortega presented the derby trophy and attended a technical meeting with the eight state‑team delegates and organizers. The official opening of the Campeonato Estatal de Béisbol de Primera Fuerza 2026 is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Gabriel Lugo Morales stadium, where defending champion Ahome will seek a third consecutive state title.
