La Sexta announces presenter change for El Intermedio
José Miguel Monzón, known as El Gran Wyoming, will retire from television after a twenty-year career leading the satirical news program El Intermedio on La Sexta. The 71-year-old presenter has decided to step down, marking the end of an era for one of Spain’s most prominent political satire formats.
Fernando González, widely known as Gonzo, has been named as his successor. Gonzo, who currently hosts the investigative program Salvados, previously served as a reporter for El Intermedio between 2010 and 2019.
The transition will be gradual. Starting in January 2027, Monzón and Gonzo will co-present the program for an undetermined period before Gonzo takes over as the sole host. This move will also leave the hosting position for Salvados vacant, as Atresmedia and Producciones del Barrio begin the search for a new presenter.
