El Guri hydroelectric plant inspected to stabilize Venezuela's power grid

Venezuelan authorities conducted a technical inspection of the Simón Bolívar Hydroelectric Plant, commonly known as El Guri, in Bolívar state. The inspection aimed to analyze operational maneuvers as part of a national plan to integrate both thermoelectric and hydroelectric generation to increase megawatts in the National Electric System (SEN).

Juan José Ramírez Luces, Vice President of Public Works and Services, noted that El Guri is critical as it generates more than 70% of the country's electricity. The visit also focused on planning conservation efforts for the Bajo Caroní reservoirs in response to the El Niño climate phenomenon. Minister of Electric Energy Rolando Alcalá and experts from Corpoelec also participated in the review of the generating units.

Additionally, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that an agreement with the American energy services company GE Vernova aims to stabilize Venezuela's electrical grid within six to twelve months by restoring existing assets and reinforcing the system in subsequent years.
