El Hoyón authorities investigate abandonment of elderly man

Authorities in El Hoyón, Atamisqui, have launched an investigation following reports that a 73-year-old man was left in a state of extreme vulnerability. A local resident reported that the elderly man, who is unable to care for himself, has been abandoned by a relative for several months.

The prosecutor, Dr. Judith Díaz, from the Gender and Intrafamily Violence Fiscal Unit, has ordered an investigation and a socio-environmental report to assess the man's living conditions and physical and mental health. The report suggests the man's nephew may have left him without basic care and is currently in possession of the elderly man's identification documents. The case has been referred to the Medellín sub-precinct for further action.
