El Jadida bookstores see high activity ahead of new school year

In El Jadida, Morocco, bookstores and school supply retailers are experiencing increased activity as families prepare for the upcoming academic season. Since late August, parents and students have been visiting these shops to purchase essential items, including textbooks, notebooks, stationery, and school bags.

This period marks a significant commercial revival for booksellers following the relative stagnation of the summer months. Hassan El Kamoun, a bookstore owner and acting president of the Association of Independent Booksellers in Morocco, noted that preparations began early to ensure all educational levels are adequately supplied and to prevent shortages or overcrowding as the start date approaches. He observed that increased awareness among families regarding early preparation has helped distribute the purchasing demand over a longer period, facilitating smoother sales processes.
