El Jadida hosts 9th edition of Forum de la Mer

The 9th edition of the Forum de la Mer is being held in El Jadida from October 1 to 4. Under the theme ‘The ocean starts here,’ the event aims to promote sustainable coastal development and the protection of marine ecosystems.

Organized by Equinox with support from the Planète Citoyenne association, the forum focuses heavily on youth engagement. Organizers expect to attract between 4,000 and 4,500 children and young people through scientific conferences, awareness workshops, and cultural activities. Activities are spread across various locations, including Mohammed V Park, the city beach, the Portuguese City, and the fishing port.

As part of the event, the ISEM ALUMNI association has introduced the ‘Blue Class’ concept to introduce young visitors to maritime professions. Led by officer students from the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies (ISEM), this initiative uses interactive exchanges to demonstrate the economic and technological importance of the sea, moving beyond its perception as merely a space for leisure.
