El Loa Province maintains class suspensions due to weather

Authorities in the El Loa province of Chile have extended the suspension of classes in Calama, San Pedro de Atacama, and Ollagüe due to an ongoing meteorological event. Following a third technical meeting on Tuesday, officials confirmed that preventive measures will remain in place as technical agencies anticipate increased precipitation.

To ensure safety, the B-245 route has been closed preventively from kilometer 20 to restrict tourist access to potentially hazardous areas and minimize unnecessary travel. Security measures have also been adjusted, including increased monitoring by the Army and enhanced surveillance in the Machuca and Guatín sectors of San Pedro de Atacama.

Emergency services and local municipalities continue to monitor the situation in the Precordillera Alto Loa, Precordillera Salar, and Cordillera regions. Authorities have urged the public to avoid traveling to mountainous areas and to rely on official channels for updates as weather conditions remain dynamic.
