El Musel railway upgrades reach 15 million euros

The Port Authority of Gijón is allocating 4.97 million euros to renovate the track network at the El Musel south station. This investment aims to accommodate increased operations expected from growing services to and from the Meseta, as well as the future railway highway to Valladolid.

This latest project brings the total for completed, ongoing, or tendered railway projects in Gijón's port areas to 15 million euros for the 2025-2026 period. The renovation, which utilizes European FEDER funds, will address infrastructure originally built in 1977, specifically affecting tracks 1 and 3, the general access track to the state interest network, and part of the access to the La Osa dock.

Other recent and ongoing works include a 4.84 million euro investment for the Romualdo Alvargonzález Figaredo dock access, a 2.87 million euro renovation of the La Osa dock rear track, and various safety and intermodal development plans being managed by Ineco.
