El Nacional executives call for audit following club relegation

Former executives of the Ecuadorian football club El Nacional are calling for transparency following the team's relegation to the second division. Galo Moscoso, a former manager, has advocated for a forensic audit to identify the parties responsible for the club's significant debt.

Marco Pazos, the former president, attributed the club's recent struggles and its loss to Barcelona SC in the 2025 Copa Libertadores to external factors, including alleged extortion and betting issues. Pazos claimed that “extra-football” elements influenced the outcome of matches.

Pazos also reported internal irregularities, alleging that revenues from football schools were being diverted to third-party accounts rather than the club. He further noted that following his departure, the new management group, NEF, replaced the existing squad with their own players.
