El Norte de Castilla restricts comment access to premium subscribers

El Norte de Castilla, a Vocento-owned newspaper in Castilla y León, has moved its comment section behind a paywall. Under this new policy, only premium digital subscribers can both read and publish comments on the website.

Previously, reading comments was an open functionality available to all users. The change transforms reader interaction from an open feature into an exclusive service intended to strengthen the relationship with the newspaper's 7,000 digital subscribers and increase the value of its subscription model.

The digital subscription continues to include unlimited access to news, reports, multimedia content, a PDF version of the print edition, and access to the newspaper's 172-year historical archive.
