El Paso Community College Honors Breast Cancer Survivors at Power of Pink
El Paso Community College’s Cosmetology Department hosted the 20th annual Power of Pink event on Friday at the college’s Administrative Services Center. The day‑long celebration offered complimentary hair, makeup, nail services, professional portraits, gifts, raffles and refreshments to local breast cancer patients and survivors.
Program Coordinator Cecilia Dominguez said the event helps students develop skills while serving people in need, and student Nelly Hernandez added she was happy to help the women feel powerful and beautiful. The portraits taken will be unveiled at a kickoff celebration at UMC on September 25 before traveling to local hospitals throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event, which began in 2005, brings together students, faculty, healthcare partners and local sponsors to support the community.
