El Paso Medieval Combat Group Marks 40 Years of Weekly LARP

The El Paso Medieval Combat Group has been gathering every Saturday at Memorial Park since 1983, making it one of the longest‑running live‑action role‑playing (LARP) communities in the city. Participants of all ages and backgrounds meet at noon, wielding foam swords and period‑style gear to stage mock medieval battles in the desert heat.

The group is part of a broader local scene that includes the themed Crown of Crows pub and other venues operated by restaurateur Gary Monteleone, which host murder‑mystery dinner theater events and other immersive experiences.
