El Paso residents offered free sandbags amid flood watch

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for El Paso County through Wednesday evening due to expected showers and thunderstorms. Forecasters warn that some storms may produce heavy rainfall, increasing flood risks in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Additional rain is anticipated through Friday.

In response, El Paso Water is providing free sandbags to residential customers for flood control. Residents can receive up to 10 sandbags per visit by presenting a valid Texas ID or an El Paso Water bill. Distribution locations include the Stormwater Operations Center, the Artcraft Booster Station, and Blackie Chesher Park. Officials advise residents to secure sandbags before heavy rain begins.
