El Puerto de Liverpool posts 55% net profit jump in Q2 2026

El Puerto de Liverpool reported a net profit of 5.119 billion pesos for the second quarter of 2026, marking a 55.4% year‑on‑year increase. Consolidated revenue rose 1.5% to 57.29 billion pesos, driven mainly by a 9.9% growth in the financial services division and an 8.6% gain in the real‑estate segment. The retailer’s flagship Liverpool stores saw sales rise 1.7%, while its Suburbia chain posted a 6.4% decline, reflecting cautious consumer spending amid the 2026 World Cup and reduced promotional activity.

The credit portfolio expanded 7.8% to 8.8 million cardholders, though the non‑performing loan ratio rose to 4.7%, a level the company said it expected. The earnings call on July 28 featured CFO Gonzalo Gallegos and other senior executives, who stressed forward‑looking risks and the firm’s prudent credit‑granting policy.

Management highlighted cost reductions, including a 53.8% drop in financial expenses, and contributions from Nordstrom, supporting the strong profit performance despite a softer retail environment.
