El Puerto de Santa María hosts major sailing regattas

The Bay of Cádiz is hosting two major sailing competitions: the 32nd Regata Juan de la Cosa and the 55th Semana Náutica de El Puerto de Santa María. Organized by the Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María, the events run from Thursday, August 20, through Sunday, August 23.

Approximately 50 boats and 500 sailors are participating in this edition, which is noted for its high level of competition. The Regata Juan de la Cosa honors the navigator and cartographer Juan de la Cosa, while the Semana Náutica features the highly coveted Gran Catavino de Oro trophy. The competitions contribute points to the Andalusian Cruiser Championship and the Spanish Cruiser Cup.
