El Puerto de Santa María to demolish Puerto Sherry beach clubs

The El Puerto de Santa María City Council has announced the forced demolition of four beach clubs and nightclubs—Phi-Phi, Margarita, Blu, and Playa Canalla—located in Puerto Sherry. The council will carry out the demolition through a subsidiary execution, with an estimated cost of 360,000 euros. This cost will be charged to the companies owning the establishments for failing to comply with municipal orders to dismantle their facilities.

The venues occupied land designated for roadways, and their authorization was strictly conditional on the structures being temporary and removable. However, the environmental group Ecologistas en Acción alleges that the companies systematically failed to meet this obligation, maintaining permanent structures instead.

Despite annual decrees signed by local officials, including Mayor Germán Beardo and deputy mayors Leonor Caballero and Danuxia Enciso, the required removals were not performed. The situation has led to a criminal complaint filed by the Prosecutor's Office in the courts of El Puerto de Santa María, with Ecologistas en Acción participating as a private prosecutor.
