El Puerto's Patio Festival Lights Up Historic Courtyards

The fifth edition of the ‘Patios de El Puerto a la Luz de las Mariposas’ will open thirteen historic courtyards to the public on the nights of 24 and 25 August, from 21:00 to 00:00. The event was presented by the cultural association Amigos de los Patios Portuenses at the Municipal Museum, with mayor Germán Beardo, deputy mayor David Calleja, association president José Ignacio Delgado Poullet (known as “Nani”), and photographer Elizabeth García Cordero in attendance.

New venues this year include the apartments on Calle Larga 70 and the Hotel Soho Boutique Duques de Medinaceli, both participating for the first time in the night‑time programme. The provincial government of Cádiz will also sponsor the festival for the first time, reinforcing the long‑standing collaboration between the city council and the association. Organisers are finalising the cultural programme, pending confirmation of several performing artists.

The festival, now a staple of the town’s summer calendar, aims to showcase the heritage of El Puerto’s patios illuminated solely by traditional oil‑lamp “butterflies”, creating a timeless atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
