El Salvador begins interviews for Court of Accounts magistrates

The Political Commission of El Salvador's Legislative Assembly is set to begin interviews on August 10 for candidates seeking positions as magistrates of the Court of Accounts of the Republic (CCR). The selection process covers the term from August 28, 2026, to August 27, 2029.

A total of 18 applicants will be interviewed in four groups scheduled throughout August. During these sessions, deputies will evaluate the professional background, experience, and proposals of each candidate. Mandatory requirements for the role include being a Salvadoran by birth, being over 30 years of age, possessing recognized integrity and competence, and maintaining active citizenship rights.

Ernesto Castro, President of the Political Commission, emphasized the responsibility of the position, noting that the CCR is tasked with auditing and ensuring public funds are administered according to the law. Deputy Caleb Navarro added that the commission aims to conduct a "serious, transparent and objective" process to verify that all constitutional requirements are met.
