El Salvador coffee institute gets tax exemption for 2026 Excellence Cup

El Salvador's Legislative Assembly approved a decree exempting the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISC) from all taxes on activities related to the "Taza de Excelencia El Salvador 2026" competition, except for value‑added tax (IVA). The exemption covers payments for services, commissions, honoraries and other operations with both national and foreign entities involved in organising the event.

The measure is intended to strengthen the country's specialty‑coffee sector, promote the "Café de El Salvador" brand in international markets and support complementary programmes such as value‑added processing and climate‑resilience for coffee forests. The competition will be run in partnership with the U.S.-based Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) and the Organization Cup of Excellence foundation.
