El Salvador export earnings hit $3.4 billion in first half of 2026

El Salvador’s export value reached US$3.401 billion between January and June 2026, a 4 % increase in value and a 10 % rise in volume compared with the same period in 2025, according to Economy Minister María Luisa Hayem. The growth reflects broader product diversification and entry into new markets.

A total of 101 Salvadoran products expanded their destination list, reaching 43 new economies and setting record export figures in 16 markets. The top destinations were Guatemala (US$662 million), Mexico (US$145 million) and Morocco (US$21 million). The most dynamic export sectors were chemicals (27 products), machinery and equipment (15), information technology (10) and textiles (9). Hayem said the results strengthen the economy’s resilience by reducing reliance on a few markets and expanding the export base.
