El Salvador faces extreme heat wave with temperatures soaring to 39 °C

Meteorologists predict a hot day across El Salvador on Wednesday, with temperatures ranging from 32 °C to 38‑39 °C. Climate expert Moisés Urbina attributed the heat to an Atlantic anticyclone that suppresses humidity and precipitation, resulting in strong solar radiation over the country.

While most of the nation will remain dry, isolated showers are possible in the northern mountainous zones and volcanic belt, including the Apaneca‑Ilamatepec and Bálsamo ranges, as well as parts of Chalatenango and San Miguel. Evening rains may affect central and western areas such as Cuscatlán, La Libertad, San Salvador, Santa Ana and Sonsonate, potentially accompanied by gusty winds and lightning. The forecast outlook suggests a gradual increase in rain activity later in the week, with more organized precipitation expected from Thursday onward.
