El Salvador opens high‑complexity Hospital Rosales and nears completion of second‑level plus Hospital Nejapa

Minister of Health Francisco Alabi announced the inauguration of the new Hospital Nacional Rosales on 1 June. The third‑level facility is equipped with the latest technology, including about 20 operating rooms, intensive‑care units, a hemodialysis suite with roughly 160 machines, oncology treatment areas and two surgical robots for minimally invasive and orthopedic procedures. Alabi said the hospital “is focused on solving complex pathologies and serious illnesses”.

Alabi also reported that the Hospital de Nejapa is “practically finished” and will be classified as a “second‑level plus” hospital, a tier just below third‑level care. The 14,000‑square‑metre complex will have 114 beds, a helipad, emergency, surgery, obstetrics and diagnostic services such as CT scanning, and parking for 242 vehicles. It is expected to serve more than one million people in the northern region of the country, easing pressure on existing facilities.

Both projects are part of a broader effort to expand El Salvador’s public‑health network, adding advanced equipment and new service areas across the country.
