El Salvador inaugurates Hospital Rosales, new high‑tech public medical centre

President Nayib Bukele opened Hospital Rosales in San Salvador, the country’s first third‑level public hospital. The facility was built on the former maternity hospital site and cost about US$61.2 million from government funds, supplementing a US$80 million loan from the Inter‑American Development Bank.

The 712‑bed centre includes 67 specialty consultorios, 61 intensive‑care and intermediate‑care units, and capacity for 420 daily hemodialysis sessions, with the nephrology unit expanding to 140 dialysis machines. It features robotic surgery suites, bone‑marrow transplant capability, the only angiograph of its type in Central America and an advanced surgical microscope. About 3,200 staff members were hired, 3,000 of whom are Salvadoran. The hospital will provide free medical care to the population.
