El Salvador launches 'El Salvador Crece' investment acceleration program

El Salvador and the Inter‑American Development Bank (BID) unveiled the "El Salvador Crece" strategy, a platform designed to draw private investment, speed up economic reforms and boost productivity. The initiative, part of the regional LAC Crece platform, targets five priority sectors: macro‑economic stability, housing and urban development, tourism, financing for micro‑, small‑ and medium‑enterprises, and internationalisation of investment.

Officials highlighted a recent drop in the country’s risk premium—from over 3,500 basis points in July 2022 to about 326 points at the end of 2025—and a 3.9 % growth rate in 2025. BID President Ilan Goldfajn said the program will help translate these gains into higher investment flows, better project execution and sustained long‑term growth. The government plans to coordinate public and private actors, identify reforms, mobilise financing and accelerate strategic projects across the identified sectors.
