El Salvador launches Mype Turística 2026 program for AI training
The Salvadoran government, through the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE) and the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (Corsatur), has launched the Mype Turística 2026 program. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive training and business tools to micro and small enterprises within the tourism sector.
A central focus of the program is the adoption of innovative technologies, specifically artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation. Paul Steiner, president of CONAMYPE, stated that while technology is a key tool to enhance the tourist experience, the essence of tourism remains the human touch and quality of service.
The training sessions, scheduled from September 23 to 25 as part of the official activities for World Tourism Day 2026, seek to align local businesses with international market demands and quality standards. Expert Jaime Carías noted that 23% of businesses are currently scaling their use of AI, and 85% of technology decision-makers intend to increase their budgets in this area.
