El Salvador launches new psychosocial care model as Mexico's senator studies its security approach

Attorney General Rodolfo Delgado inaugurated a psychosocial care model for vulnerable people at the Santa Ana fiscal office in El Salvador. The service, aimed primarily at women, children and adolescents, includes a team of prosecutors, psychologists, social workers and forensic doctors, as well as a Gesell room, a playroom and closed‑circuit TV monitoring. The project was funded with support from the Canadian embassy, Spain’s development agency, UN Women, the European Union and the NGO Ayuda en Acción, and adds a third point of service after Santa Tecla and San Salvador.

Mexican Senator Antonio Martín del Campo announced a July 1‑2 visit to El Salvador to examine the country's security and penitentiary policies, including the high‑security “Center for Terrorism Confinement” opened in 2023. He will meet Vice President Félix Ulloa and other officials to discuss how El Salvador’s strategies that reduced crime could be adapted to Mexico’s fight against impunity and organized crime.
