Salvadoran rescuers honored for Venezuela earthquake aid

Twin earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela on 24 June, prompting an international humanitarian response. El Salvador dispatched a mission that sent 452 rescuers, 170 tonnes of aid, and a field hospital. President Nayib Bukele awarded medals to the 452 Salvadoran personnel, noting the contribution of 270 Venezuelan volunteers and the logistical work of 77 Salvadoran staff. The field hospital delivered roughly 3,200 medical consultations and 1,100 veterinary services. The United States military supported rescue and logistics operations, while Mexico’s Guanajuato state sent more than 77,000 aid items. The combined effort aimed to locate survivors, treat injuries, and provide essential supplies to the affected Venezuelan communities.
