El Salvador shares security and governance models with Latin American officials

The Centro de Estudios Internacionales ‘Héctor Oquelí’ of El Salvador and the Centro Internacional de Formación y Desarrollo of Uruguay hosted an International Seminar on Security and Local Governance on August 18. The event served as a platform for exchanging information regarding the transformations in public security and local government experienced by El Salvador in recent years.

Directed at Latin American authorities, legislators, and decision-makers, the seminar focused on the institutional and territorial transformation of El Salvador. Key themes included public security and territorial control, state modernization, sociocultural transformation, and the role of security as a driver for economic and social development, including tourism and investment.

The program included lectures and technical field visits for participants from Mexico and Uruguay to observe implemented strategies firsthand. High-ranking Salvadoran officials, including Security Minister Gustavo Villatoro and Interior Minister Juan Carlos Bidegain, participated in presenting the government's experiences.
