El Salvador to mark 205 years of independence with parades and marches

El Salvador will commemorate 205 years of independence on September 15 with various public activities. A main parade in San Salvador is expected to feature over 7,000 participants, including 2,284 students from 15 public and private educational centers, 1,200 artists and musicians, and 3,850 members of the Armed Forces. The military contingent will also include 278 pieces of equipment, such as vehicles, artillery, aircraft, and naval vessels.

The parade will cause significant traffic restrictions in San Salvador, affecting major routes including Alameda Manuel Enrique Araujo, Paseo General Escalón, and Alameda Roosevelt. Authorities have deployed security and mobility teams to manage the event.

In a separate mobilization, the Monseñor Romero National Committee has announced it will join a march organized by social groups. This march, scheduled to take place near the Hospital Rosales, aims to commemorate independence while addressing contemporary issues such as inequality, poverty, and human rights. The Committee expressed its intention to stand with those facing persecution and uncertainty during the commemorative period.
