El Salvador's Supreme Electoral Court conducts second transmission test ahead of 2027 elections
The Supreme Electoral Court (Tribunal Supremo Electoral, TSE) of El Salvador carried out a second internal test of its vote‑recording and transmission system for the Juntas Receptoras de Votos (JRV). The exercise took place on two voting centres in San Salvador and focused on measuring the time required for the preliminary tally and improving centralized result transmission.
The test is part of the electoral calendar that runs from 20 March to 7 October for system trials and extends to a deadline of 12 February 2027 for transmitting, processing and publishing preliminary results ahead of the general election on 28 February 2027. TSE magistrate president Roxana Soriano said the trial aims to address challenges identified in earlier processes and to provide better tools for the volunteers who operate the JRV.
The TSE noted that the first internal trial was held on 25 May in four departments, and that each successive exercise helps identify improvements, reduce risks and strengthen preparation for open simulations later in the calendar.
