El Seibo highway inauguration: Vice President Raquel Peña opens Las Mesetas road

Vice President Raquel Peña inaugurated the Las Mesetas highway in El Seibo, a 7.2-kilometer road project designed to connect El Cuey, Las Mesetas, and surrounding areas with Santa Cruz de El Seibo. The project, executed by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, includes sidewalks, drainage systems, and road signaling. The new infrastructure is expected to boost local economic development by facilitating the transport of agricultural products such as cocoa, milk, meat, and sugar cane, while also enhancing tourism potential in the region.

During the event, Peña noted that the government is delivering approximately 22 kilometers of roads in the province this Sunday, with an additional 46 to 47 kilometers currently under construction. Public Works Minister Eduardo Estrella reported that 37 kilometers of roads have been inaugurated in El Seibo during the current administration. Other ongoing projects include road connections between San Lorenzo and various communities, as well as paving works in Miches and Santa Lucía.

In a separate engagement in the same province, Vice President Peña met with over 350 students to discuss education and technology. During this meeting, she distributed 350 scholarships for the Technological Institute of America (ITLA) and 350 computers to support their academic development.
