El Tiempo transitions to tabloid format and new headquarters

The Colombian newspaper El Tiempo has transitioned its print edition to a tabloid format as of September 27, 2026. This change replaces the universal size previously used by the publication. The newspaper describes the new design as more practical, portable, and easier to navigate, aligning with global media trends.

The transition coincides with a major relocation of the newspaper’s headquarters. After 48 years at its Calle 26 location in Bogotá, the editorial house is moving to new facilities in Fontibón. This expansion involves an investment of 130,000 million pesos, which includes a modern newsroom and a new Koenig & Bauer printing press.

In its 115th year of circulation, El Tiempo is introducing new columnists and enhanced content, including more infographics. The Círculo de Periodistas de Bogotá (CPB) recognized the move as a significant step in adapting to modern reading dynamics while maintaining the publication's journalistic integrity.
