Elaine Luria Wins Virginia Primary, Sets Up Rematch with Rep. Jennifer Kiggans

Former Democratic Representative Elaine Luria secured the nomination for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, defeating physician Nila Devanath, scientist Bill Fleming and former USAID staffer Patrick Mosolf. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee backed her through its “Red to Blue” program, and her campaign highlighted banning members of Congress from trading stocks, lowering prescription‑drug costs, expanding health‑care access, supporting veterans and protecting abortion rights.

Incumbent Republican Rep. Jennifer Kiggans ran unopposed in the GOP primary and is campaigning on lowering the cost of living, job growth, border security, national security, veterans’ issues, Medicare, and defending the Second Amendment and women’s sports.
