EL.A.S. to host climate resilience forum in Larissa

The EL.A.S. organization is hosting an open event in Larissa titled ‘Are we ready for the next Daniel? – Climate Crisis: Prevention, Resilience and Critical Infrastructure.’ The event, scheduled for October 22, 2026, at the Larissa Municipal Art Gallery, aims to evaluate the progress made in flood protection and infrastructure resilience three years after the catastrophic Daniel storm.

The discussion will address the urgent need for preparedness in Thessaly following recent extreme weather events and unprecedented rainfall recorded in other parts of Greece, such as Crete. The program includes a keynote speech by Thessaly Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas regarding the challenges facing the region.

Two specialized panels will follow: one focused on science, infrastructure, and readiness featuring experts such as hydrogeology professor Kostas Voudouris, and another addressing local government and community involvement.
