Elazığ City Hospital campus begins construction of mosque and Quran course

The foundation stones for the Hacı Nusret Dumandağ Mosque and a Quran course for children aged 4–6 have been laid at the Fethi Sekin City Hospital campus in Elazığ, Turkey.

Funded by the Dumandağ Foundation, this project marks the first time a mosque is being constructed within a non-financed city hospital complex in Turkey. The initiative aims to address the social and religious needs of the large campus, which serves millions of patients and companions annually.

Local officials, including Elazığ Governor Numan Hatipoğlu and Mayor Şahin Şerifoğulları, attended the ceremony. Governor Hatipoğlu noted that as city hospital campuses expand, the necessity for dedicated worship spaces increases, suggesting that the Ministry of Health should consider mosques as essential components in the planning of new hospital facilities.
